Miss Arbia was admitted to the Chateau at Brooklyn on December 29, 2020. Prior to being admitted to the Chateau, Miss Arbia was admitted to New York Community Hospital due to the fact that she is a diabetic and her sugar was low. She had fallen, which resulted in her not being able to walk. After running some tests and X-rays the hospital saw that her gallbladder was infected and they would need to perform a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. After completing the procedure successfully, her doctor informed her that she would need to spend some time in a rehabilitation facility to regain her strength and get back to her family. So, after deciding with the social worker that the Chateau was the chosen rehab community, her discharge was set for the following day.
Her day was set on December 29, 2020, for her to begin a new chapter in her life. She was extremely nervous about how she would manage and what they did in a rehabilitation facility; after all, this was her first time away from home. After arriving at the community and being greeted by the Receptionist and Concierge, she was a lot less nervous and already felt comfortable. After a good dinner and a better night’s sleep, she was greeted by her therapist and she was excited for this journey to start.
After a few weeks of participating in rigorous rehabilitation therapy, Miss Arbia was able to get out of bed on her own, and slowly but surely she was improving with her activities of daily living and taking care of her needs on her own. After graduating out of her wheelchair and on to a walker, she was very excited to be walking on her own. Miss Arbia has mentioned many times to all the staff here how thankful she is for what the staff did for her and how she can’t thank them enough.
The team at The Chateau couldn’t be more proud of Miss Arbia and how far she has come. They are excited together with the doctor, therapist, and her family to finalize a date for her to return back home.
