How did this patient hear about The Chateau at Brooklyn Rehabilitation & Nursing Center? Lived in the neighborhood and familiar with the community

Details of experience:

Renee is a 90-year-old woman who was brought to the hospital due to an infection and shingles. After she was cleared from the hospital, she searched for a Nursing/Rehab center that could assist her in getting back to her normal strength. Renee happens to live in the neighborhood and recalled seeing our building daily as she walked around the neighborhood. Because it was close to home, Renee decided to come to The Chateau. Renee’s first 24 hours were scary.

Upon her arrival, she was in a different setting than she used to be. She had multiple roommates and was not accustomed to being in a room with many people. With that being said, Renee brought this to the attention of the team at The Chateau, and moments later, she was brought to a different room that met her desires and needs. The team’s swiftness and efficiency indeed showed that they assisted with any and all of her concerns. Renee came in with a strong mindset and the determination to recover and return to her normal strength. Renee loved going to rehab every day and wished that there was more physical therapy! Renee’s favorite part of her stay was going to the 6th floor and working out. Renee wanted to thank the rehab team, nursing, recreation, maintenance, and housekeeping for everything they do.

During Renee’s stay, she met many people. She built new friendships and relationships with not only the staff but other residents as well. During her stay, Renee had a CNA named Raven. Raven attended to all of Renee’s concerns/needs with a smile. Whenever anything was needed, Raven was there to help ensure that everything was done promptly. Renee said, “Raven is going to go to big places. She is so kind, caring, and warm that I know she is destined for greatness, and I couldn’t be happier for her. Whenever I see her, it’s impossible for me not to smile. Even when assigned to a different floor, she makes sure to come and say good morning, good afternoon, and good night to me.”

Renee also loved The Chateau’s physical therapy dog, Kona. Kona is a kind and gentle dog with two different colored eyes! The list of amazing things at The Chateau is never-ending. In Renee’s final days at The Chateau, she reflected on how much she had improved since her arrival. With all the support she received from every department, Renee knew that her goals were only a matter of time. Here at The Chateau, we could not be more proud of Renee on her epic journey, and we wish her all the best.
